We are a Greek K-12 school seeking to redesign its website (www.mandoulides.gr). We have already identified the way we want it to look. The text is written and the material is gathered. There is not a lot of work to be done on the design front. Please do not send general emails advertising your company and try to be as specific as possible. We will not read/respond to emails that do not address the points below.
Features
1) Tuition payment online via credit card, bank wire transfer or paypal.
2) Login ability for users.
3) Connection to the school’s database, which is written in Delphi (Oracle Database). That is where all the students’ data reside. (Tuition and grades) This way parents that have paid on time will be able to access their kids’ grades online.
4) Survey: The school has an annual satisfaction survey that it wants to post on the website and it should generate statistics after the parents fill it in once a year.
5) The site should be able to handle files like pdf, ps ,doc, ppt, xls, html, xml, audio, video etc
6) The ability for the school to update the site on its own periodically after it is built.
Tech Specs
Backend: PHP or Ruby.
Frontend: HTML with JavaScript
Way of connecting to database: Directly through Oracle or SQL query extracting data and importing to page. This is a point that needs to be determined.
Issues
The way of connecting to the database needs to be determined. It might be better that the new site does not connect directly to the school’s database but have its own, which will be updated by the school’s database. Doing this, eliminates the risk of exposing the database online.
What are we looking for?
We will choose a coder based on the following criteria:
1) Prior projects
2) Project time frame and detailed description (language used etc)
3) Project cost (maintenance, training, hosting)
